Dave chappell Performed a series of comedy shows in New York to “put the spotlight on a live show and say Comedy is Back”.
Flying from Ohio, Chappell performed for two nights at The Stand in Union Square and shared the stage with Chris Rock for half an hour on Tuesday (May 18). Michelle wolf And Trevor Noah Were also part of the comic line-up according to Page six.
“I know Dave wanted to come back to New York and put the spotlight on the live show and say that the comedy is back,” venue owner Paolo Italia told Page Six. “He wanted to be a part of that moment. I think what he did was great not only for our club, but for all the comedy. He really cares.”
“We all need people to come back to clubs and watch shows. Everyone – musicals, Broadway – everything, ”Italia said.
A participant told Page Six that Chappell was “hilarious” and was back and forth with Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew, who was in the crowd after announcing his bid for New York governor.
“Chappell asked Andrew what he did and he told him ‘I’m saving New York State,” the participant said. It was not clear whether Chappell knew who Andrew was.
As Page Six reported, the show also crowded Questlove, DJ D-Nice and Chappell’s former comic Donnel Rowlings from the show.
