Kingdom Hearts IV Announced, Will Kick Off Sora’s New Story Arc?

Kingdom Hearts IV is currently under development. During a 20th-anniversary celebration of the franchise in Japan, Square Enix revealed the next instalment. The trailer may be seen in the video attached above.

The trailer doesn’t start with Kingdom Hearts IV right away since it also features footage from the recently announced mobile game Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, so you’ll have to fast forward until 4:09 to see Kingdom Hearts IV.

As soon as the trailer starts, you’ll see Sora awaken in an apartment as what appears to be a massive heartless enters the city. Sora pulls out his Keyblade and parksours and grapples his way to the adversary.

Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, a different game in development for Android and iOS devices, was also unveiled by Square Enix. Adventures set in the setting of Scala ad Caelum from Kingdom Hearts 3 and battles against the Heartless are featured in the mobile game.

Square Enix claims Kingdom Hearts Missing Link will have a new, original plot, although it will almost certainly connect into Kingdom Hearts 4. The release date for Kingdom Hearts Missing Link is unknown, however a closed beta test for the game is planned for 2022.

Kingdom Hearts 3 was launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019, with a Windows PC release in 2021 and a Nintendo Switch release earlier this year. The franchise’s third main game attempts to weave together years of complicated tales from many spinoffs and side stories, starring protagonists Sora, Riku, and Kairi, as well as the dozens of Disney characters they’ve battled against and alongside over the past two decades.

“We’d want to thank the fans for all of their support over the years, and we can’t wait for them to experience everything that’s to come for Sora,” series brand manager Ichiro Hazama said in Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 4 announcement.

“It’s been an honour to work with Tetsuya Nomura and his team for the past two decades to bring these unique stories of discovery, courage, and friendship to the world,” said Nana Gadd, director of Walt Disney Games. “This is just the beginning of Sora’s next adventure; we can’t wait to reveal more when the time is perfect.”
